Neighbours, not Twins – Introduction into Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia

Navigate the subtle yet significant differences between Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia in this essential cultural deep dive. While these nations share borders and linguistic roots, their social codes—from wedding traditions to weekend lifestyles—remain distinct and often surprising.

This course provides the cultural map you need to move beyond regional generalizations and build authentic connections across Central Europe.

You arrived in CEE and although it is considered as one region, you start realising that in one country you feel like you should have brought something almost smart casual to go to dinner, while in another you feel, even in the capital, as if you were walking in a mountain resort looking at people ready to head out for a hike.

You were invited to a wedding and it gets confusing: in one country it starts at 10:00 AM and includes a break, in another at around 2:00 PM with no break in between. Everyone seems friendly but getting to real friendship seems very different in these countries.

There is a lot to discover in this region where the languages are very similar (from 40% to 80% similarity), cultures intertwined in history, and yet there is crucial diversity that may lead to misunderstandings.

Why join?

In a region where languages and histories are deeply intertwined, the “crucial diversity” is what often leads to the most common misunderstandings. Joining this session will help you decode why everyday situations—like dress codes, dining out, or building a friendship—differ so sharply between Warsaw, Prague, and Bratislava.

You will gain practical insights into the contrasting national identities, social norms, and “false friend” linguistic traps, ensuring you feel at home and act with confidence regardless of which side of the border you are on.
