Cooperating with the Germans

Training on your German business partner’s culture will allow you to understand how to build a long-term relationship with people from this culture, and therefore to communicate and manage common projects effectively.

    Module I

    Getting to know the Germans

    • Introduction to the topic. What are my experiences in daily cooperation in a multicultural team?
    • Metaphors and definitions of culture and their translation into everyday cooperation, values and behavior
    • What can surprise us the most about colleagues from Germany and from Poland? 
    • The basis of differences and similarities between the style of work in Germany and in Poland
    • Build trust and create relationships with Germans
    • Attitudes towards general rules or exceptions
    • Approaches to time and deadlines
    • The importance of hierarchy, expressing respect and ways of making decisions

    Module II

    Cooperation and communication with the Germans

    • Description vs. interpretation and evaluation – how to understand frustrating situations?
    • Work with a case study – analysis of difficult situations based on the knowledge and experience of employees together with proposed solutions to a difficult situation
    • Who is speaking directly, who is beating around the bush? Direct and indirect communication
    • Sources of intercultural misunderstandings: how to read the other party’s needs and intentions in virtual contact?
    • Rules for virtual communication with Germans
    • Case studies – how to communicate better
    • How I can influence cooperation as a leader, team member or supporting role – different approaches to building teams
    • Best practices for our team. Building bridges between Polish and German culture. 

    Project flow

    Diagnosis and prework

    Virtual workshops
    • training divided into 2 workshops, 3,5 hours each
    • interactive working methods: discussions, chat, virtual board, questionnaires, videos, case studies, breakout rooms, external tools (Mentimeter, Miro, Funretro)
